Carly Wilding is a true multidisciplinary artist based in St Kilda. After completing her Bachelor of Arts, Acting course in Ballarat, Carly has gone on to work professionally in theatre, music, and in commercials and voice over.
Recently, Carly has performed in new folk musical Voyage with the Good Girl Song Project, in the titular role of The Good Girl. After a successful season at fortyfivedownstairs earning three Music Theatre Green Room Award nominations in 2022, Carly toured to Canberra to perform the music of Voyage on the prestigious Budawang Stage at the National Folk Festival in Canberra, continuing the tour to Regional Victoria and surrounds until 2024.
Carly performs regularly in folk duo Morrigan Wilding, in which she is a singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist, accompanying original songs with Celtic harp, guitar, vocals and live-looping alongside bandmate Kylie Morrigan. Their debut album, THESE WOMEN came out in January 2024, Carly's hand-painted artwork throughout, and they perform regularly around Victoria/Australia as part of their ongoing album launch. They also improvise live scores for Soothplayers: Completely Improvised Shakespeare at Australian Comedy and Fringe festival circuits.
Collecting skills since the age of 3-well...13 in her first job as a freelance portrait artist, Carly continues to build on her multidisciplinary skillset. Carly dabbles in directing, with her directorial debut, feature film Love's Bitter Mystery, premiering in 2022 to a sold out audience. Carly has also directed & musically directed theatre (Bumbles & Moz, Wind in the Willows - Australian Shakespeare Company), and occasionally uses her visual arts background towards set design (Her, Voyage - fortyfivedownstairs) and in costume (La Brea, NBC.) Carly is currently in pre-production as MD/AD on A Midsummer Night's Dream for Sevenfold Theatre Company, 2024.
The Nugget for Sovereign Hill Museum (dir. Natalie Erika James) kicked off a collection of short films for Carly, including Melbourne Fashion Festival's A Victorian Silhouette in association with Sovereign Hill Museum (MFF award winner.) In 2019, Carly voiced several roles in Sovereign Hill's multi-million dollar live show AURA - Now showing. Most recently, Carly has voiced projects for Holmesglen Institute, multi-national exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai, Emmi Climate Solutions, and Carly's Catharsis - a series of comic meditations, which have gone viral on sites such as LadBible.
Carly's theatre credits include The Good Girl in Voyage - A New Australian Folk Musical, Bumbles in Bumbles & Moz (self-written), Olivia in Twelfth Night, Head Chief Rabbit/Musical Director in Wind in the Willows, Duchess in Alice in Wonderland (Australian Shakespeare Company), Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet, Miranda in The Tempest (Melbourne Shakespeare Company.)
Carly is currently enjoying getting back into ballet training, bending her harp with new whacky effects, and fitting out her new camper van, Beatrice! She can be seen either in billowing dresses with a harp over her shoulder, or with tradie shorts and a drill - there is no in between...
Carly is currently represented by Katie Collins at UE Agency.
